Job Details

Responsibilities include:

• Dealing with daily queries from members of the public by phone or in person, taking the appropriate initial action to resolve, document or escalate their concerns or enquiries
• Liaising with the local council, Government agencies, the voluntary sector and others to help resolve constituents’ problems
• Managing the progress of casework, ensuring all cases are logged updated with any actions taken and outstanding queries are followed up, with urgent cases reported to the Member
• Draft responses or respond to constituents on any issues raised on behalf of the Member
• Ensure cases are dealt with in a sensitive and confidential manner
• Organise and attend surgeries and other meetings to assist the Member in dealing with constituents’ issues
• Working within a small team including Rehman’s Westminster based staff
• Organise local events for the Member

The successful candidate will have:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• A polite and professional telephone manner
• Competent use of IT including casework management systems, Microsoft Office package, and email
• Excellent timekeeping and an organised and flexible approach
• A strong desire to improve on a professional level through learning new skills and gaining experience

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.

Interview/Start Dates

An appointment may be made before the closing date if a suitable candidate is found.

Interviews likely to be held w/c 1 September 2014. The successful candidate would be expected to start soon after the interview date but there is flexibility.
