The Arab Human Rights Academy (AHRA) is the first and only organisation of its kind. It is a non-political and not-for-profit organisation founded and run in London by the diaspora with the purpose of defending human rights in the Arab world. The AHRA aims at promoting a non-violent and tolerant culture through research, education, literature, journalism and activism. You will be working in a team providing full support on a part time basis alongside other duties. It will be a role which requires excellent communication skills both verbal and written with English being your first language, you will have the ability to interact with different individuals including clients. We are looking for someone who is dynamic, professional, confident and approachable.

Applicants should preferably hold a degree and keen to work in the human rights field. Word processing skills and knowledge of software packages, however, are all essential. Shorthand and audio typing are also beneficial.

Candidate must be/have:

•writing skills: texts for blog, newsletter, press release and updating social media outlets
•PA for the Organisation
•screening telephone calls, enquiries and requests
•organising and maintaining diaries and making appointments
•book rooms and conference facilities
•dealing with correspondence and writing letters, taking dictation and minutes
•dealing with incoming email and post
•producing documents, briefing papers, reports and presentations

You will need to:

•use a variety of software packages, such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Powerpoint, Excel, Access, etc, to produce correspondence and documents and maintain presentations, records, spreadsheets and databases;
•using content management systems to maintain and update websites and internal databases;
•managing and maintaining budgets, as well as invoicing;
•liaising with staff and external contacts;
•ordering and maintaining stationery and equipment;
•liaising with colleagues and external contacts to book travel and accommodation.

Self-employed for one month and if successful a full-time contract will be offered.
