A caseworker is required for Therese Coffey MP till Parliament closes at the end of March 2015. Only a fixed term contract will be offered at this time but it may be extended beyond the election. 

The role will include providing advice and support to constituents on a variety of issues through liaison with Government, councils, agencies, the voluntary sector and others to resolve issues.

There will also be the opportunity to support the MP with bespoke research projects, in addition to the casework role.

You will be managing your own caseload with guidance and be responsible for the progress of casework, ensuring all cases are logged, updated with any actions taken and outstanding queries are followed up, with urgent cases reported to the Member. You will be expected to perform general tasks to support the smooth running of the Westminster office, including cover for work colleagues. 

The role is based in London and will not be required to attend surgeries in the constituency, but will liaise with the Constituency Secretary. There will be one or two trips to Suffolk during the contract.

This role requires someone who can learn quickly, work independently, manage time well, work to tight deadlines, has confidence to initiate connections and would suit a hard-working, top-class, recent graduate.

Candidates should be sympathetic to the aims and values of the Conservative Party.

Candidates must possess excellent organisational, IT and strong communication skills and be able to draft correspondence, provide secretarial services for correspondence and keep accurate records. Competence in Microsoft Office, email and the internet will be expected.

Interviews may start before closing date if suitable candidates apply. Initial interviews will be by phone. 

The successful candidate should expect to start no later than 1st September, though a slightly later start may be accommodated.
