Karen Bradley MP is looking for an intern to assist her and her team in her Westminster office from September to Christmas. This internship will provide an opportunity to learn about the working of an MP’s office in Parliament and to assist Karen in representing her constituents.

Key skills and attributes

The successful candidate will be well organised, reliable, motivated and a team player with a sense of humour and a willingness to learn. He or she must also be:

  • able to write clearly and concisely to a very high standard of English
  • proficient with MS Office, particularly MS Word, and confident with IT in general
  • educated to degree level
  • able to demonstrate an interest in British politics.

The job will involve:

  • assisting Karen’s parliamentary assistant and caseworkers with constituency correspondence and policy research
  • data entry and data management, in particular of correspondence
  • general administrative tasks.

Applicants should be sympathetic to the aims of the Conservative Party.

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.

Interview/Start Dates

The application process will include at least one interview and written exercises. Interviews are likely to be in the last week of August and Karen would be keen for the successful candidate to start as soon as possible in September.
