Job Details

How much you achieve in life should not be determined by how much your parents earn. Yet in the UK, it too often is.

Teach First is an education charity working in partnership with schools and other organisations to break the link between low family income and poor educational attainment. Our vision is that no child’s educational success should be limited by their socio-economic background.

We’re seeking a Senior Officer to support the development of the newly formed Fair Education Alliance (FEA). Launched in June 2014, the FEA is a coalition for change in education comprising 25 of the UK’s leading organisations. The FEA is committed to narrowing the key gaps between poorer pupils and their wealthier peers.

As Coalition Project Lead, you’ll play a critical role in shaping this important coalition in the early stages, ensuring key activities are planned for the autumn (a policy report and a national event) and delivered in a powerful, creative and inclusive way. You’ll work closely with the Director of Communications to steer the medium and longer term strategy of the alliance including objective setting, activities, fundraising, governance and membership strategies.

You will play a pivotal role in project managing the commissioned ‘State of the Nation’ report, and ensure key internal stakeholders and alliance members are consulted to ensure a fair representation of policy recommendations, press launches and broader communications.

This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for a hard-working and credible individual with exceptional communications and project management skills to lead on the development of this alliance. We’re looking for someone experienced in managing complex multi-organisational initiatives that can balance diverging views and deliver impact. You’ll have exceptional relationship building skills with experience working in broader coalition or partnership work.

Above all, you’ll be passionate about driving forward change in education through the Fair Education Alliance. You can find out more about the FEA here: http://www.teachfirst.org.uk/about/working-partnership/fair-education-alliance.
