The Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) is looking to recruit an articulate, efficient and highly motivated individual to join its complaints-handling team. IPSO is the new voluntary, self-regulatory body for the newspaper and magazine industries in the UK and it will begin operations in early September. We are therefore looking to recruit a new complaints officer as soon as possible.

The role will include investigating complaints, drafting rulings and mediating between complainants and publications where appropriate. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and write cogently, having achieved at least a 2:1 degree (or having been educated to an equivalent standard). Although no previous experience is required, an intelligent interest in the press and its self-regulation is essential; and a background in regulation or complaints-handling may be an advantage.
