A leading 3rd sector organisation is looking for a communications professional to help shape and promote political debates, policy analysis and ideas in a clear, compelling and accessible style.

Key Responsibilities

• Conceptualise and commission agenda setting articles, papers and online debates.
• Draft or edit newsletters, press releases and articles.
• Develop and implement new avenues and audiences for communications, including: social media channels, video, podcast and digital media, press profiling and article syndication.
• Develop and maintain a network of partner organisations, researchers, politicians and other interested parties in the UK and abroad.
• Build media relationships and regularly brief journalists and political commentators.
• Organise publicity that aids the promotion, preparation and delivery of high profile international events and conferences.
• Review, update and implement a communications strategy across the relevant communications disciplines.
• Work closely with the senior management team to develop and strengthen the organisations profile and expansion.

Skills and Experience

• Proven and relevant work experience in politics or media, or a related role in thinktanks, academia, NGOs or governmental institutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to understand and communicate a range of political ideas and policy analyses.
• Proven experience of editing and/or writing creatively for a range of audiences.
• Confidence and flexibility to work in a dynamic international research environment.
• Very good understanding of UK, European and international politics.
• Experience in website and social media management would be an asset.

Salary and Contract

£30,000 – £35,000 depending on qualifications and experience. Two years fixed contract, renewable. 3-months’ probation period. 25 days annual leave. The remuneration package includes a contribution towards a personal pension plan.
