The Start Up Loans Company is a Government-backed initiative tasked to help individuals start successful businesses across the country by providing low cost finance to those excluded from mainstream markets. At the heart of the programme is the delivery of high quality business support and mentoring to help those businesses succeed and grow.

The Government is investing more than £300million over the next five years to provide start-up funding to entrepreneurs wishing to start a business, and the programme aims to help start 15,000 businesses per year.

With 533 constituencies in England, we are working hard to engage local MPs with the great work Start Up Loans is carrying out in their local area and showing just how their constituents are benefiting from the scheme.

The post holder will need to liaise with MP’s offices across the country, spreading the word about Start Up Loans and gathering support, providing them with case studies of relevant local loan recipients and asking for their help promoting the scheme to their constituents where necessary. You will work closely with others members of the marketing and PR team create a project plan before executing the strategy.

This role is for minimum of six weeks with and immediate start.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the PR team to create a project plan
  • Building networks of key decision makers (Ministers, Advisers, Civil Servants and external stakeholders).
  • Maintaining accurate and up to date records of correspondence with public affairs contacts so that information about relationships with stakeholders is easily available to team
  • Keep up to date on political developments and stakeholder activities and inform the team about developments
  • Draft relevant case studies for constituencies when necessary
  • Provide general ad hoc administrative support to marketing team when required

Competencies and behaviours

We are looking for a self-starter who is comfortable working on their own as well as part of a team. The post holder must be an accomplished communicator both verbally and written, with excellent attention to detail. They will need good time management skills and be confident dealing with stakeholders of all levels.
