Description
chinadialogue is seeking a talented individual to assist with the launch of a new project on China’s environmental impact in Latin America. The ideal candidate would be proactive, organised and self-motivated, with relevant professional experience. This is paired with excellent communications skills in Spanish and Portuguese, a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

About us
chinadialogue disseminates high-quality information and promotes communication on environment and climate change in both Chinese and English. We provide a space for open discussion, to inform and to contribute to equitable and constructive solutions to global environmental problems. We aim to foster a common purpose across political, ideological and cultural boundaries by publishing independent and accurate information on environmental issues.

chinadialogue’s primary vehicle is its unique, bilingual website, www.chinadialogue.net, and has offices in London, Beijing and Delhi.

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to assist with the launch of a new project on China’s environmental impact in Latin America.

China is now Latin America’s major lender, investor and trade partner. Despite the growing importance of the relationship, Latin America is underreported in the Chinese media, and vice versa.

chinadialogue will create a multilingual web platform (Spanish, Portuguese and English) that will address this lack of knowledge and create a dialogue between China and Latin America for policymakers, business leaders, activists and other interested readers.

Essential skills:
• excellent writing, editing and commissioning skills;
• proven interest in environment and climate change issues, and Chinese operations in the region;
• Spanish and Portuguese language skills;
• experience in web publishing, social media and use of CMS systems;
• ability to establish and maintain a network of contacts;
• strong project management and problem solving skills;
• ability to work independently.

Desirable skills:
• Chinese language skills.

The main responsibilities will relate to carrying out research tasks, assisting with the web development process, marketing tasks, as well as occasional administrative tasks.

Closing Date: 1 September 2014
