Length of Contract:

Job Details

6 months fixed-term.

Hours: Flexible, working up to 37 hours per week.

Olly Martins was elected Bedfordshire’s first Police and Crime Commissioner in November 2012.

Since then he has set out ambitious plans to build a Safer Bedfordshire, and made determined progress by safeguarding frontline policing across the county and supporting local initiatives to reduce offending and improve services to victims.

The Role:

The Ministry of Justice has taken the decision to devolve the commissioning of victims’ services to PCCs. There is an ambitious timetable associated with this transition, and PCCs will start to commission some victims’ services from October 2014.

We are offering a unique opportunity to join the Commissioner’s office, to work closely with the victims’ policy team and help us create an intelligent picture of victims’ services across the county, and use that to identify gaps and help inform the commissioning intentions of the PCC.

You will be comfortable using multiple data sets, liaising with the police and other agencies to gather data, and undertaking mapping and analysis using standard techniques. You will work closely with the existing team by researching and gathering information on local and national victims’ services, and delivering presentations and briefing as appropriate.

About You:

You will be educated to degree level with strong elements of practical research and analysis or have equivalent work experience.

Managing complex information holds no fear for you as you already have excellent research and analysis skills, and proven experience in forming your analysis into clearly evidenced recommendations. Similarly, you will have excellent knowledge of standard office computer software including spreadsheet packages.

This role offers a genuine opportunity to help shape how victims’ services are delivered, and so an interest in improving public services would be beneficial. In return, you will gain valuable experience working in an exciting and demanding policy area.

Closing Date: 10 September 2014
