We’re looking for a proactive and creative economic individual to join us as Senior Economic Analyst and lead rigorous research projects that will have a real capacity to deliver change to England’s housing crisis.

Housing is a national issue that regularly polls amongst the top five issues of public concern ahead of the election. Our Campaigns, Policy & Campaigns Division’s job is to ensure this concern continues to grow and that policy responses to the housing crisis are grounded in the best evidence. They’re determined to shape policy that will work to end bad housing and homelessness. This challenging role will help them do just that. It will also enhance your reputation as an expert in the economics of housing and homelessness.

Your key responsibilities:

• Take the lead role in economic and statistical analysis, working both within the Research team and multi-disciplinary project teams across the Division
• Identify opportunities to use analysis and deliver research that supports a range of campaigns relating to increased house-building, tenants rights and protection in the welfare system
• Brief and advise senior colleagues on how economic trends are likely to affect Government policy decisions and our own policy recommendations
• Line manage a Research Officer and provide leadership within the Research Team on economic and statistical analysis.

And what you’ll need:

• An economics or other quantitative degree, or equivalent experience in quantitative social sciences plus proficiency in SPSS and Excel or other quantitative analysis packages.
• Good knowledge of economic issues related to housing and homelessness or a related subject, or a willingness to develop expertise in this area.
• Evidence of delivering economic, statistical and/or market analysis in an applied policy context.
• A collaborative, client-focused and results-driven approach and a proven ability to communicate effectively, including economic concepts and analysis to non-technical audiences.
