Main duties:
We are looking for an exceptional individual to join our hard-working and innovative teams as a research and personal assistant in Westminster.

The successful candidate will be someone who is passionate about politics and public policy who has a strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask. You should be able to work well under pressure with minimal supervision and have a friendly, approachable attitude with the ability to interact with people at all levels. You don’t have to have worked for an MP before to do this job, but please share any experience you have.

This role would suit someone with excellent written and communication skills who is highly proficient in the use of ICT, is very organised, diligent and innovative.

Main duties:
• Respond effectively to correspondence and enquiries from constituents on policy issues.
• Analyse, evaluate and interpret data relating to the above correspondence
• Manage diaries (respond to requests, organise meetings, liaise with individuals and organisations, make travel arrangements)
• Develop and maintain current knowledge of bills, EDMs, legislation and debates etc.
• Help with the administration and general running of our Westminster offices.

Skills:
Desirable
• Experience working in an administrative role
• Research experience

Essential
• Good IT skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, Facebook and Twitter
• Interest in politics
• Knowledge of political system and parliament
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and to deadlines
• Take initiative

The ideal candidate will be sympathetic to the aims and values of the Labour Party and Co-operative movement. You should be educated to degree level or have extensive relevant experience.

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
