An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a prominent financial services organisation to develop their core narratives and deliver a range of high-quality policy outputs that are of measureable value to policy makers and in the public interest.

Responsibilities

• To scan the environment to ensure that policy areas of potential relevance are identified in order to develop effective strategies to address them.
• To drive the development and agreement on policy positions across a broad range of key issues; ensuring that they are based on research, clear analysis and cogent arguments.
• To contribute to the management of research to identify policy issues and/or advance policy thinking and promotion.
• To contribute to the development and responses to consultations, often taking responsibility for the initial drafting and the co-ordination of comments and responses.
• To prepare briefing documents and public positioning statements on key policy issues to support the organisations public affairs activities.
• To maintain an updated record of authorised external lines to take on key issues.
• To develop and maintain relationships with appropriate internal and external stakeholders.
• The post-holder will need to guide stakeholders in their decision making on a range of subjects particularly in terms of policy priorities, the development of core narratives and the content of the policy work programme across different practice areas.
• The post-holder will need to get to grips with complex and technical policy issues quickly, be able to form opinions on these and advice stakeholders as appropriate.

Knowledge and experience

Essential
• Proven experience of influencing policy makers at UK, EU and International level
• An established public policy professional with a background in working across international boundaries and an understanding of the policy issues relevant in financial services (or one of the different branches within/close to FS)
• A keen interest in public policy with a demonstrable ability to produce quality outputs for a range of audiences
