As the national academy for engineering, our main aim is to bring together the country’s most eminent engineers from all disciplines to promote excellence in all aspects of engineering.

We are currently seeking two Policy Advisors to help build the Academy’s policy influence within parliament, government, industry and the policy community so that engineering advice is used and valued through all stages of the policy development process. The roles will be responsible for developing policy reports, responding to consultations and building and managing relationships with Fellows and other stakeholders.

The successful candidates will be graduates in an engineering, scientific or other analytical subject with at least three years’ experience in a professional policy-focused role. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential together with the ability to work on your own initiative and manage a varied workload. You will need to be highly organised, with excellent time management skills, and the ability to perform well under pressure.

One of the Policy Advisor roles will concentrate on providing policy advice on research, innovation and entrepreneurship which will require knowledge of key issues relating to research and innovation investment and policy in the UK. The other role will involve more general policy issues with an engineering dimension.
