The Afghanistan and Central Asian Association is a small and dynamic charity that works to promote and defend the rights of Afghan and Central Asian refugees in UK and the rights of Afghan people in the Diaspora and in Afghanistan itself. ACAA empowers and supports Afghan and Central Asian refugees who live in UK through services aimed at reducing and relieving poverty and isolation among them.

The Role

The aim of this role is to create and carry out new fundraising activities in the local community to raise funds for the local activities such as the ESOL classes, children’s supplementary school and other projects.

The second part of the role involves outreach work in the local community as well as other parts of London, to involve more individuals in the organisation’s activities. This may include distributing leaflets, researching organisations to contact and promoting the work of the ACAA.

Main Duties

• Conduct desk based research (identify new and potential donors)
• Carry out administrative tasks including mailings
• To ensure all responses from clients are handled within agreed standards
• Develop ideas and initiatives for fundraising
• Create and distribute promotional information

• Excellent Communication skills (written and verbal)
• Excellent computer skills
• Flexibility: ability to multi-task
• Able to work individually as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team
• Ability to develop effective relationships

The Commitment

The expected working hours of the Fundraising and Outreach volunteer are flexible (eg 4 hours a day) and flexibility is given for preferred days. The role requires a minimum commitment of 3 months, with the possibility of extension.
