The Office of Jack Dromey MP is looking for a Research and Public Engagement Officer to be based in his constituency office of Birmingham, Erdington. The role will include assisting with local community campaigns on behalf of his constituents, as well as facilitating engagement with residents, local organisations, businesses and community stakeholders.

Work tasks may include:
• Researching constituency-related issues.
• Liaising with special interest groups.
• Maintaining and updating existing stakeholder database.
• Processing casework for constituents.
• Event organisation.
• Office administration.
• Drafting correspondence.
• Liaising with other MP’s offices and outside bodies.
• Occasional facilitation of weekend MP surgery.

Person Specification:
• Understanding of current public policy and political issues.
• Team player.
• Self-motivated including ability to work with little supervision.
• Excellent written skills.
• Confident telephone manner.
• Have the ability to learn quickly and to adapt to changing workload.
• Microsoft office proficient.
• At least three months' experience in a busy office.

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.

Those selected for interviews will be notified on Monday 15th September. Interviews will take place on Thursday 18th September.

Please note that this is an 8 month fixed-term contract starting on Wednesday 1st October.
