Rachel is looking for an Assistant Caseworker to work in her constituency office in Bramley, Leeds. You will be working as part of a close-knit team to help ensure the smooth running of the constituency office. You will help to manage the large volume of constituency cases that Rachel receives and ensure constituents are given a first-rate service on a variety of personal and local issues.

Job description
• Manage enquiries from the public via phone, over email or in person
• Respond to all enquiries in a timely, comprehensive and professional manner
• Provide advice and support to constituents on a range of housing, health, social security and other issues
• Organise and attend advice surgeries on a weekly basis
• Ensure cases are dealt with in a confidential and sensitive manner and make sure that records of contact are kept whilst adhering to the Data Protection Act
• Provide basic administrative support
• Undertake other duties within the constituency office as required
• Monitor local news stories

Person specification
• Educated to degree standard or with experience of working in a similar role
• Experience of working in a political office
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to manage a large caseload
• Competent in the use of IT, including MS Word, Outlook, Excel
• Experience in areas such as housing, immigration and local government may be beneficial
• Able to work on your own and as part of the team, often with limited supervision
• Sympathetic to the aims of the Labour Party

This will be a fixed term contract up until the end of May 2015.
