This is a fantastic opportunity to build the profile of a small think tank working to promote debate and discussion on alternative policies for the left. The Director will provide leadership, strategy and direction to build upon Class’ achievements over the last 3 years in influencing policy development to ensure the political agenda is on the side of working people. Working with the team, the Director will develop an ambitious strategy to boost Class’ networks, public profile and income streams. The Director will help to position Class as an expert voice on policy development enabling more impactful interventions in policy debates through new projects and media strategies. Class are looking for someone who can provide leadership, has a keen interest in progressive policy, and an ability to confidently communicate the policy concerns of working people with the press.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide strategy and leadership to a small dedicated team
- Assist in designing new projects and media strategies to achieve more impactful interventions in policy debates
- Extend the influence and reach of Class through building and consolidating relationships
- Communicate Class’ work to a broad range of audiences, representing Class at events and in the media
- Develop a funding strategy to ensure a secure and sustainable future
Person Specification:
This role would suit someone with proven leadership skills and a demonstrated ability to work in a complex political environment who will be comfortable leading a small, committed organisation. The ideal candidate will need to have extensive experience of dealing with the media, possess excellent communication, influencing and analytical skills and have the ability to plan strategically. We are looking for someone with a keen interest in the policy concerns of the labour movement who can demonstrate a commitment to the aims and values of Class.
