The IEA is looking to appoint up to two full-time equivalents to its Programmes team. It is envisaged that at least one of those will be a full-time position. 

This is an excellent opportunity for an entrepreneurial, detail-oriented and fiercely deadline-driven individual to gain experience working at a one of Westminster’s leading think tanks. The role will involve assisting the Programmes Director on our exciting EPICENTER project, as well as the running of our education programmes. This role will involve some travel (mostly within UK). This role would suit a highly organised and friendly individual who enjoys working in an exciting and challenging environment.

Skills and Experience

  • Superior organisational skills and attention to detail; passion for delivering high-quality work; team oriented but with the ability to work independently; and a commitment to meeting deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication: articulate and clear in person, on telephone and via email
  • Positive and enthusiastic with first-class people skills and exceptional customer service 
  • A willingness and ability to learn quickly and respond to a variety of different situations, and coolness under pressure
  • Microsoft Office literacy and the ability to quickly learn database tools; confidence with technology and experience with social media are advantages
  • A willingness to be flexible and versatile and take on additional tasks and responsibilities when appropriate
  • A high commitment to professionalism in all aspects
  • Willingness to work flexible and unsocial hours
  • An interest in, and an appreciation for, free markets and individual liberty

Tasks include:

  • Assisting and supporting the Programmes Director with all aspects of our outreach programmes
  • Communicating with schools, speakers, politicians and those who work for think tanks abroad
  • Liaising with schools to organise and run our series of sixth form conferences
  • Co-ordinating requests for speakers from external organisations, including universities and schools
  • Liaising with schools and university societies to ensure they are kept informed about IEA events and education programmes
  • Assisting with our social media output, particularly Facebook and Twitter
  • The role will involve travelling, approx. 3/4 times per month
