As part of the Communications Team, the Press Officer will help to implement the campaign’s social media relations strategy.

Proactively engaging with journalists and supporting story and message development, the role will work collaboratively and proactively with other members of the Communications, Research, and Digital teams to follow-up on opportunities to secure coverage and deliver media interventions for the campaign. A core member of the campaign’s press office, the role will also work alongside other press officers to plan and executive media activity on a daily basis.

Essential experience:
• Relevant experience of using social media to drive news coverage and deliver core messages in a contested environment
• A similar role within a busy press office, or as a journalist at a national newspaper or broadcaster
• Writing and preparing high-quality material for use on social media platforms and for general media release

Desirable:
• Working in a campaign or political environment
• Producing written material within an agreed messaging framework

Person Specification:
• Expert in using digital platforms to swiftly and effectively set media narratives
• A capable communications adviser with excellent knowledge of the media and politics
• Excellent copy-writing and editing skills
• A campaigner to their core, driven to protect and enhance the reputation and standing of the campaign
• Comfortable working in very fast-paced environment with competing priorities
