Policy Network is a leading international thinktank and political network based in London. Through a dynamic programme of research, events and publications, we have acquired a reputation as a leading platform for long-term strategic thinking and international best practice, impacting upon policy debates in the UK, Europe and the wider world.

We are recruiting for a researcher whose duties will include supporting a new project with the Barrow Cadbury Fund on immigration and integration challenges in the UK and the EU. Research will focus on how recent developments in immigration and terrorism are impacting on mainstream politics in Europe, and what counter-narratives and policies are available to defend an open and tolerant society.

Additionally, the research will support Policy Network’s projects in comparative public policy research.

The successful candidate will be able to conduct rigorous analysis of empirical data-sets, public policy and political discourse, combined with selective interviews with key social scientists and political actors across the EU.

The position offers a platform on which to build an international network of contacts in politics, policymaking and academia.

Key responsibilities
• Collect and analyse empirical research and data-sets.
• Conduct interviews with key social scientists and political actors across the EU.
• Monitor and analyse relevant political and policy developments.
• Draft a high-profile research report to be disseminated widely across the UK and Europe.

Skills and experience
• Experience of undertaking quantitative data collection and analysis, and qualitative policy and political research.
• Effective in interview methods.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to understand and communicate a range of political ideas and policy analyses.
• Very good understanding of UK, European and international politics.
• Knowledge and expertise in immigration and integration challenges is a significant advantage

Full-time contract.
1 year contract, with possibility to extend to other projects.
