Job Details

We are a team of Nicaraguan and foreign Volunteers and Interns, based in Managua. What we do in essence is rescue food and share it with communities in situations of food insecurity.

Comamos Juntos (the Spanish name for Eat United) is a small, but growing social enterprise. Our aim is to strengthen and expand our food distribution network. To make that happen we need to get on board more Vendors, Communities and Volunteers and ensure the long-term sustainability of our system. That's where INTERNS come in. Everyone is involved in the whole development process, which includes both people and project management. Possible working fields are logistics, administration, research, networking, monitoring and evaluation.

Additional to these general long-term development tasks, each intern will have a special focus. We are looking for interns to fill specific roles in the following areas:

1. Finance (based in Managua, 3-6 months or more)
2. Volunteer Recruitment (based in Managua, 3-6 months or more)
3. Grant-writing (possibility of remote working, 3-6 months or more)

Furthermore, we offer more general volunteer positions for 1-3 months. Volunteers need to be prepared to get involved in all aspects of running a start-up social organization; from helping out with the food collection and distribution, to coordinating volunteers and logistics, through to media and publicity, through to community outreach.

We encourage volunteers to fundraise an amount equivalent to U$200 for each month that they plan to be with us.

For example:
A 2 month stay as a volunteer/intern would have a fundraising goal of U$200 x 2 = U$400.
A 6 month stay would have a fundraising goal of U$200 x 6 = U$1200.

We provide ideas and support for fundraising activities before the volunteering stay begins!
