The post of Parliamentary Researcher is an interesting and varied appointment based in our Office within the Scottish Parliament.

The post holder will be the first point of contact with members of the general public, organisations or constituents and will be required to have good communication skills.

The post holder will work as part of a dynamic and wider team and will be responsible for policy research, MSPs' speeches, Parliamentary Questions and Motions together with all aspects of Parliamentary support.

The post holder will also be responsible for inputting information on the MSPs’ website and will be expected to assist with general support within the office.

Applicants should be well organised, flexible, self motivated, a good team player and able to work on their own initiative.

Knowledge and understanding of the Scottish Media is essential along with experience of working with Journalists. You will need a good awareness of the Scottish Political scene.

Applicants will be IT literate and have experience of new media, including website content management.

The successful applicant must attend regular staff meetings and take part in appraisal, support and supervision.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or have evidenced experience in the role required.

Hours are 28 per week (four days). Holiday entitlement is 30 days per annum (pro rata) with 10.5 public and privilege holidays.
