Job Details

Integrity UK is recruiting three part-time Media Analysts for its Arab Media Monitoring Hub.

Integrity was founded in 2014 as a unit within the International Centre for Integration & Cohesion – a UK based registered charity (no. 1126489). Our aim is to ensure that the MENA region is represented and analysed in an impartial, unbiased and nuanced manner, in order to provide the world with a clearer perspective on current affairs.

The interns, being part of a small and friendly team, will monitor several Arab news channels and provide punctual translations of selected footage into English. If interested, the interns can also have a chance at contributing to our blog.

As this is a voluntary role there are no fixed hours or responsibilities. Nonetheless, Interns play a vital role in the organisation and there will be plenty of opportunities for career and personal development.

We are asking for a flexible commitment within office hours for two to three days a week. Interns should ideally be able to commit for a period of three to six months.

Candidate Experience and Skills

Essential skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of Arabic and ability to translate from Arabic to English
  • Good written and spoken English
  • Strong team working skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills

Desirable skills:

  • General knowledge of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region
  • Ideally educated in a language or translation discipline
  • Interest in media and communications

Analytical skills
The interns should be able to bring their own laptops. Training and on-going support will be provided, as well as the possibility to attend conferences and workshops in order to gain useful experience related to the position.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in gaining experience in the media and translation sector.

W4MP Note:
The role being advertised is a voluntary one. As such, there are no set hours and responsibilities and you should be free to come and go as you wish. If the post demands set hours and/or has a specific job description you may be deemed to be a ‘worker’ and be covered by National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage legislation.
