The Stroke Service in the well-established healthcare charity Manor Gardens Welfare Trust provides a high quality community service for stroke survivors and their carer’s in Islington. We support clients to reach their individual healthcare, social and practical goals, in order to improve the quality of their lives.

By volunteering, you will also gain experience in working in a multi-cultural community and engaging with other providers, voluntary and community organisations, as well as health and social care professionals.

This is a great opportunity for someone hoping to work in the charity, health or social care sector. We are a small service and so your help would make a very big difference to our work. 

Role (flexible) may include:
Provide support for individual clients in the service, including: contacting the council, various social services and other relevant organisations.
Update the database with notes from client meetings and conversations with organisations.
Help facilitate our Stroke Club day centre run on Fridays 9.30am – 3pm (if available on Fridays) and take part in ad hoc group activities and workshops.
Work on marketing and fundraising for the service, with the opportunity to be creative and innovative while doing so!
Help with general administration including producing reports for the service.
Receiving training about Strokes, Safeguarding Adults and more.
Provide the project, and befriending service with any ad hoc tasks as required.

We are looking for a volunteer who….
Has an interest, commitment and enthusiasm for supporting vulnerable adults
Is eager to learn or develop new skills by actively doing
Will be a positive member of the Manor Gardens and Stroke Service team and community
Reliable and punctual
Can commit between half a day to four days per week, for a minimum of three months
