The role is for six months.

Local government is important. Your local council and others like it across the country account for over a quarter of public spending and employ over 1.5 million people. Authorities in England alone were budgeted to spend just under £100 billion serving their communities in 2015-16.

Councils of every shape and size deliver over 700 different services, and each year face an increasingly heavy burden as demand grows whilst funding shrinks.

Cratus Strategic works with businesses, charities and other entities seeking to engage and work with local government. As an intern with our Strategic Section you’ll work across our developing portfolio of clients. You will report directly to the Executive Director and work alongside staff operating in different fields within the Cratus Group at our Bankside office.

There won’t be a typical day and there won’t be a typical project. Each and every firm we work with receives a tailored service based around their offering and their objectives. You’ll learn how to translate between the public and private sector and see first-hand how both fields can work together.

You’ll get experience at every level of the Cratus Strategic workload, from attending senior stakeholder meetings and pitching, to wrestling with data and producing intelligible reports and briefings for our clients.

To apply for this role you will need:

• A strong interest in politics, knowledge of local government would be helpful.
• Good command of written English.
• To be happy and comfortable on the phone.
• To be familiar with Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.
• To be organised and capable of working to a deadline.
• To be happy working as part of a team.
• A willingness to learn, particularly in new areas.
• The ability to drive would be useful but is not essential.
