ACEVO (The Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations) is the leading national network for leaders of charities and social enterprises. We help social leaders at every stage of their career through connecting them to a unique network of their peers and placing them at the heart of the national debate.

We are looking for a Head of Policy to drive our sector-leading policy programme. ACEVO has a long tradition of enacting change in the areas that matter to our members, and you will continue this work. You will oversee the creation of policy work, and disseminate our findings and views to stakeholders across government and the sector. You will create and respond to national stories of policy import, track political developments at the intersection of society, state and business, advise the CEO directly and work at the apex of public policy, digital engagement and social change.

This is your opportunity to shape ACEVO’s work, and through it shape the national agenda.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a strategy for the policy team that produces a robust, broad-spectrum policy platform to drive the future of the third sector
  • Find innovative ways of engaging with ACEVO’s members to ensure ACEVO's policy work reflects their priorities
  • Work with the CEO and Head of Press to curate ACEVO’s press activity and be a first line on reactive comment
  • Work with the CEO to fundraise for ACEVO’s policy work and deliver on board targets
  • To be one of the organisation’s primary spokespeople to regional and sector media and to step in for the CEO where appropriate on national platforms
  • To lead on the delivery of all policy projects and events
  • To curate the organisation’s relationship with key Whitehall actors and across government
  • Manage an intellectually engaged, highly capable team

Your Profile

  • Political acumen combined with social conscience
  • Experience of innovative, targeted and high-impact policy work
  • Experience building relationships with high level decision-makers and the media
  • First class written and oral communication skills
  • Experience contributing to a change agenda and delivering against fundraising targets
  • Sense of humour, team work, going above and beyond to get the job done

You will join one of the most dynamic, forward focussed teams working in social change today.

Closing Date: 17 June 2016

Interview/Start Dates

Interviews will be held during the week commencing June 20th.
