The Senior Media Officer reports into the Media Relations Manager. The NSPCC Press Office team is responsible for all our interactions with the media, be it through printed media, broadcast or digital and across the UK nationally, devolved nations and regionally. The team will work collaboratively across the NSPCC to develop a strategic NSPCC presence in the public eye, creating a strong media platform for the NSPCC to publicise its work to end cruelty to children. The remit of the Press Office is to develop this presence on a national basis but also support locally within the four nations and across the regions.

Job Purpose:
• To raise the profile of the organisation through media and communication strategies
• To work in the Press Team, focusing on strategic planning and delivering media strategies
• To identify potential opportunities to increase NSPCC media profile and deliver on them
• To offer media advice and insight to colleagues and stakeholders
• To develop key stakeholder relationships both internal and external
• To contribute to the Communication function’s purpose of ensuring that all communication is of an appropriate high standard, consistent with NSPCC’s brand and key messages
• To help develop and deliver the agreed team strategy, plans and standards
• To work effectively with other teams and departments in promoting communications work, policies, campaigns and brand guidelines

Main Responsibilities:
• To work proactively as part of an effective and efficient communications team.
• To help develop proactive external focussed multi-disciplinary media campaigns and stories.
• To protect and enhance the reputation of the NSPCC through the media.
• To work with Media Relations Manager to develop and implement complex and comprehensive media strategies, campaigns and plans around a range of platforms
• To have a broad spectrum knowledge of the wider media agenda and political context 
• To have a broad spectrum of senior external contacts within the media, and external stakeholders
• To have a developed understanding of the media environment and the best way to target and influence individual audiences 
• To have a broad understanding of the effective use of digital and social media in the delivery of media activity
