The Children’s Society has a great new role lasting for a maximum of 6 months. As a Children’s Policy volunteer, you will volunteer alongside the Policy Officer and other team members to support our policy work on Child Poverty & Inequality and work. It is important that the applicant has a passion for helping vulnerable children and young people and a keen interest in public policy, parliamentary work, influencing and campaigning. However, no specific experience is necessary.

The key activities of the role include:

  • Assisting the Policy Officer in research and developing work on child poverty and inequality issues
  • Helping to analyse information gathered from direct work with children and young people. For instance information obtained from focus groups which will help to form the basis of report recommendations
  • With guidance, writing letters and briefings for political audiences
  • Supporting the Policy and Public Affairs team with administrative tasks such as data inputting and spreadsheet building
