Being the Parliamentary Affairs Officer at Royal Mencap Society is hugely rewarding for those who want to influence top politicians and decision makers in order to improve the lives of people with a learning disability.

Purpose of the Role

You will support our work in Parliament and across Whitehall by helping to build and maintain relationships with MPs, Peers, Ministers and Civil Servants.

You will work to actively bring the voice of people with a learning disability into the heart of parliamentary debate as well as to the ear of key decision makers across Whitehall.

You will be working to support the Public Affairs and Parliamentary Manager on briefings and parliamentary engagement as well as aiding the organisation of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Learning Disability.

The role can be broken down into four areas:

1. Being an ambassador for Mencap
2. Working with external stakeholders
3. Team player
4. Parliamentary Knowledge

Initially we are looking for someone to join on a 6 month contract, however this could be extended.
