Job Details

The Royal Society is the independent scientific academy of the UK and the Commonwealth, dedicated to promoting excellence in science. It is a self-governing Fellowship of many of the world’s most distinguished scientists drawn from all areas of science, engineering and medicine.

Providing scientific advice for policy is one of the Royal Society’s strategic priorities. In recent years, we have produced independent and authoritative advice across a range of policy areas such as: resilience to extreme weather; the future of maths and science education; new and emerging technologies; shale gas; open data and investment in science and innovation. We also work with other academies, learned societies, funding agencies, government, industry and the public sector to develop the case for support for scientific research.

We are now looking to increase the scale and pace of the Society’s policy work to cover a range of policy issues. We are looking to recruit a Science Policy Programme Manager to help deliver on this ambition.
The Science Policy Programme Manager will:
• Lead on the coordination and successful delivery of a programme of science policy initiatives and events.
• Build and maintain networks of key contacts across the Society, in partner organisations and in Government.
• Organise and deliver external meetings and events.

The post is also available for candidates interested in secondments from other organisations.

We will consider applicants who are open to job-sharing, provided that there are other suitable candidates to job-share with.

Closing Date: 12 August 2016

Interview/Start Dates

Interviews will be held in the week commencing 22 August 2016.
