Job Details

The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for someone wishing to develop their research and writing skills within the NGO sector.

Main Duties
• Undertaking research on funding opportunities for projects in the UK and Afghanistan, followed by drafting applications.
• Taking part in a research project that seeks to find out how far International NGOs and organisations operating in Afghanistan since 2001 have been successful in achieving their humanitarian goals and objectives.
• Writing appeals and contacting individuals and organisations to ask for donations for implementation of humanitarian projects in Afghanistan such as digging wells or building classrooms as well as for the continuation of our existing Citizens Advice centres in Kabul and Pul-i-Khumri.
• Contacting international sporting organisations and national clubs to enquire about the possibility of receiving financial support or sponsorship to set up sporting grounds inside Afghanistan, particularly for sports such as Cricket or Football which have become very popular over the past few years but still suffer from a lack of sporting facilities for public use.
• Contacting UNESCO and other relevant organisations that aim to preserve historical artefacts and sites about whether they would be interested to fund preservation projects in Afghanistan, particularly for those sites that have been neglected or damaged due to past conflicts. This task would ensure historical sites are placed under the monitoring of international organisations and so are prevented from being damaged again in the future.
• Involved in a mini-project of sending free goods to Afghanistan for distribution among the poor and disadvantaged communities. This task is composed mainly of two parts: 1) searching for free goods that are available for collection 2) finding free or cheap transportation to Afghanistan.
