The University of Southampton Students’ Union (Union Southampton) is a registered charity with a £7M turnover. We exist to unlock the potential and enrich the life of every one of our 23,000 student members. Union Southampton is run by students for students, but our achievements are not possible without the support, expertise and partnership of our 100-strong core staff team.

Union Southampton has undertaken a significant change in its decision-making processes over the last 12 months, leading to the introduction of a new approach for the 2016/17 academic year. We are currently looking for a full-time Democracy Coordinator to take a lead in the roll-out of this new system, helping to spread the reach of Union democracy throughout the student body in innovative and engaging ways.

The role will support our students in the development and implementation of the Union’s decision making processes, elections and constitution. The role takes a lead in coordinating Union elections, focusing on extending their reach and engaging the diverse student body in helping develop and shape their Union and University experience.

The role works closely with our student officers, providing guidance and support, as well as supporting the staff team to ensure the integrity of the Union’s work and democratic structures.

This role is full-time with contracted hours between 9am and 5pm Monday-Friday, although occasional weekend and evening work will be required.
