What this internship offers
Our aim for this internship is to offer an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to learn skills and gain demonstrable experience in public affairs. The intern will also have the opportunity to contribute ideas on how we can improve and enhance our public affairs activities, helping us to develop and deliver them into effective initiatives.

What the internship will involve
The Public Affairs Intern will have the opportunity to work with members of the policy team to support Genetic Alliance UK in the development of our public affairs activities and gather evidence that will feed into our policy work. Genetic Alliance UK informs and influences policy and practice to drive change that will improve the lives of people affected by genetic conditions.

An important component of Genetic Alliance UK’s ongoing policy work is supporting the Rare Disease UK campaign. You can find out more about that initiative here:http://www.raredisease.org.uk/.

The Public Affairs Intern will have the opportunity to help with a number of events for the All Party Parliamentary Group on Rare, Genetic and Undiagnosed Conditions. We are looking for an intern who can support the policy team in contacting parliamentarians, and to help raise awareness of rare, genetic and undiagnosed conditions in Parliament.

What we like our interns to have:

  • A can-do attitude.
  • Good research, communication skills and IT literacy.
  • An organised approach to work with attention to detail.
