Job Details

You will be working directly with and for Wandsworth families facing the multiple challenges of poverty. You will be able to provide them with both immediate relief for fuel costs as well as varied and longer term support through our discretionary grants and specialist advice.

We operate within the Wandsworth foodbank network which runs 5 sessions per week. We require dedicated volunteers who could give the same 2.5 hours each week and build rapport with our families.

A similar role will be available in Hammersmith from October 2016 (please specify in application which role you are interested in).

A friendly and approachable personality is required. You will also be working in sensitive situations where discretion and confidentiality are very important. You will also be required to complete a DBS check which will be funded by fuelbanks and families.

Familiarity with a laptop and basic IT skills are essential. Full training and support will be given.

We are looking for individuals who can commit for a minimum of 3 months to the same 2.5 hours per week.

You will be operating at our fuelbanks where families come in with vouchers for their gas and electricity for their pre-payment meters. You will spend an initial 20-30 mins with each family asking them details of their situation. Within this meeting with the clients you will then be able to sign post and suggest further support, which we offer, to try and help these families out of their crisis situation.

This role will give you a greater understanding of the troubles that our families are going through on a day-to-day basis.
