Calling all Aspiring Journalists!

Are you interested in any of the following issues?
• Politics
• Current Affairs
• Issues that affect you and your community
• Music
• Entertainment
• Sport

Aged 18-24? Want the opportunity to expand your journalistic skillset? Look no further!
The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust is looking for enthusiastic young people with an interest in journalism to work on the new edition of SLIK Magazine. SLIK (Stephen Lawrence Instils Knowledge) is the flagship publication of the Trust and has recently received the funding to get up and running again.

This will be a great opportunity to develop your skills, produce content around the issues that matter to you, receive training and expertise from industry professionals and attend workshops about how to get into the media profession.

Over a 6-month period, we will work towards the production of a digital magazine and a blog which will continuously publish content. The extensive links of the Trust mean we have great channels of access to prominent public figures, in past editions SLIK has featured people like: Boris Johnson, Chuka Ummuna, David Lammy and Beverley Knight.

The Trust runs a number of different programmes that are highly relevant to young people. Your involvement in SLIK may lead to further opportunities, including our prestigious Political Journalism internship at the Parliamentary Press Gallery.

More info about SLIK can be found here: http://www.stephenlawrence.org.uk/slik-magazine/ and our News section detailing more info about the position can be found here http://www.stephenlawrence.org.uk/news/.

In terms of commitment, volunteers will be expected to attend sessions once per week lasting around 2-3 hours. The sessions will take place in the evening and will be based at the Stephen Lawrence Centre in Deptford. The Project will run from mid-November till early-May.

W4MP Note:
The role being advertised is a voluntary one. As such, there are no set hours and responsibilities and you should be free to come and go as you wish. If the post demands set hours and/or has a specific job description you may be deemed to be a ‘worker’ and be covered by National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage legislation.
