Job Details

What will I be doing?
• Assisting the Westminster and EU Public Affairs team with materials and logistics for events with parliamentarians
• Supporting with the second phase of the Big Tobacco Cough Up campaign and the continuation of the Junk Free TV campaign. This will include writing copy for supporters, responding to supporter and Ambassador queries and creating engaging campaign content for social media
• Supporting delivery of MP visits to our Cancer Research UK research centres
• Helping with our ongoing engagement programme with MPs and Peers, drafting briefings and helping with events, internal communications and other activities
• Supporting Westminster and EU Public Affairs team with parliamentary monitoring and debate summaries

What skills will I gain?
• Producing print and online materials for key external audiences
• Project management skills
• Interpersonal skills by collaborating with teams across the charity and beyond
• Knowledge of how the political system works in a practical setting, how it impacts our work and how we can work to influence it
• Experience of using social media in the workplace
• Knowledge and experience of being involved in Public Affairs and Campaigns for the largest fundraising charity in the UK

Why we need you?
Cancer is a political issue. Our Policy Department is an award-winning team that lobbies parliament and government to achieve the public policy aims of Cancer Research UK. 

You will undertake a variety of projects, allowing you to gain experience of all areas of our work. This will include helping prepare for campaign launches and research centre visits, as well as supporting us with our communications to campaigners, MPs, Peers, MEPs and members of devolved administrations.

How much time do I need to commit?
Ideally, we would like someone who can commit to four days a week, but we will try to find a flexible opportunity for the right candidate. You will be based in our head office in Islington, London.
