We are a multi-award winning women's NGO encouraging, educating and empowering marginalised women to live better and safe lives.
JAN Trust is looking for volunteers including social media and communication volunteers to join our busy small team on a part-time basis.
The right candidates will be able to commit to two-three days per week over a period of six months.
JAN Trust welcomes volunteers who have a keen interest in volunteering for a multi-award winning grass roots NGO empowering marginalised women and young.
You must be passionate and committed to our ethos.
For the social media volunteer you must have experience in managing social media.
These volunteer roles will provide you with exposure and experience with a range of our services, i.e. forced marriage, FGM and honour based violence work; integration; hate crime and Islamophobia and radicalisation.
You will have an insight into:
- Relationship building and visiting schools, colleges and community organisations and assisting with workshops on forced marriages, FGM and radicalisation
- Researching sensitive issues such as Islamophobia and radicalisation
- Assisting users in class particularly ICT and ESOL classes
- Organising and attending events
- Managing social media and blogging
Essential
• An interest in empowering marginalised women and young people
• Strong verbal and written communications skills, with excellent attention to detail
• A good team player, with flexibility, enthusiasm, imagination and a ‘can-do’ attitude
Desired
• Previous experience in a similar setting
• Previous experience managing social media (including advertising)
• Previous experience creating, managing, and/or editing websites (Wordpress)
• Additional languages an asset (particularly Arabic, Bengali, French, Urdu, Punjabi, Turkish)
