Job Details
To provide the Assembly Member with administrative, constituency, parliamentary and publicity support ensuring that standards of confidentiality are maintained.
Main Duties
- Maintain an appointments diary for the Member, arranging cancelling appointments, meeting and greeting visitors as required.
- Respond to enquiries from constituents, other politicians, the media, lobbyists and pressure groups.
- Develop and maintain casework system ensuring all cases are logged; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken.
- Research and investigate issues raised in constituency correspondence and follow up in such cases, ensuring their timely resolution.
- Promote the work of the politician and keep constituents and interested parties informed by the co-ordination of regular newsletters and other means.
Essential Knowledge and Experience
- Some experience of administrative work and knowledge of office systems.
- Experience of a comparable role dealing with complex correspondence, diaries and events and running a busy office.
- Knowledge and understanding of issues relevant to the local area.
Essential Skills and Behaviours
- Ability to work on own initiative to tight deadlines, with the ability to work flexibly and juggle a range of tasks.
- Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a range of people in sometimes challenging situations.
- Ability to demonstrate sensitivity and ensure that the highest standards of confidentiality are upheld.
