Purpose of Job

To provide the Member with Assembly support including diary, high quality research, analysis, briefing and support on a wide range of topics, ensuring standards of confidentiality are maintained.

To take a lead role in producing digital communications to support and promote the role of the Assembly Member, engaging with communities and communities of interest across the region.

Main Duties

  • Provide high quality research in response to enquiries as directed by the Assembly Member.
  • Develop effective relationships and work collaboratively with colleagues from different service areas across the National Assembly and with counterparts in other legislatures and with policy officials.
  • To develop the presence of the Assembly Member through a range of digital media tools which assists the Assembly Member in engaging with constituents across the region.
  • Design materials promoting the work of the Assembly Member and execute delivery.

Essential Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience of working in the Assembly and directly with influential, high profile people in a busy environment.
  • Experience of delivering research or briefing in a parliamentary or similar environment.
  • Significant experience in audio visual production, website production and the use of online and social media communication.
  • Advanced design and image manipulation skills.

Essential Skills and Behaviours

  • Sound judgement and a good understanding of what it means to work in a politically sensitive environment.
  • Demonstrable analysis skills, sufficient to undertake a wide range of research, analysis, fact finding, and administrative support activities.
  • Exceptional drafting and presentation skills to present complex issues and policy options clearly, succinctly and accurately, orally and in writing.
