Sutton Borough Conservative Federation is seeking to recruit a talented and motivated individual for the position of campaign intern. This is a key role ahead of the May 2018 Sutton Council elections. The successful applicant will report to the Federation Chairman and Deputy Chairman (Political) and work with councillors, the MP, candidates and volunteers to deliver a successful election campaign. The post would be ideal for any applicant wishing to pursue an early career in politics.

Specific responsibilities would include:

  • Day to day campaigning operations as directed
  • Building a campaign team by increasing volunteers' involvement
  • Delivery and distribution of campaign literature
  • Organisation of Voter canvassing
  • inputting and updating data on Vote Source
  • Assisting with Association fundraising events and event co-ordination when required

The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate that they are self-motivated, have a good eye for detail and possess the ability to produce high quality work against tight deadlines. They will have excellent verbal and written communication skills together with a strong work ethic and be able to work as part of the SBCF team.

Familiarity with Vote source is preferable, and a successful applicant should have excellent command of Microsoft Office and IT skills. A driving licence is desirable as is also the ability to work flexible hours including Saturdays where required.

This is a full-time post for a period of three months, but opportunity for an extension will be discussed. The post is voluntary, but food and travel expenses will be offered.

The successful applicant will be based at our Sutton offices: Donnington House, 2a Sutton Court Road, Sutton, SM1 4SY.
