We are looking for a senior policy and public affairs professional to join our Policy, Campaigns and Research team and lead on aspects of St Mungo’s policy and public affairs work; in order to help achieve the goals in our organisational strategy and to influence changes in national and local policy.

At a time when homelessness is rising up the political agenda, we are looking for a dynamic individual who can make the most of this exciting opportunity to influence major changes in policy and legislation and ensure the voices of homeless people are well represented in such decisions.

Your ability to get to grips with complex policy issues, develop clear policy asks and design and implement robust public affairs plans will be crucial to this role.

As our Senior Policy and Public Affairs Officer, you will:

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of St Mungo’s influencing strategy
  • Plan and deliver policy and public affairs projects and activities that support the organisation’s overall policy influencing objectives
  • Build effective relationships with policymakers and other stakeholders
  • Provide line management to junior Policy and Public Affairs staff and volunteers as appropriate
  • Ensure that our clients are at the heart of all our influencing work

To succeed you will need experience of developing and implementing successful policy and public affairs strategies, in addition to a well-developed knowledge of homelessness or a closely related policy area. Other requirements include the ability to represent an organisation in the public arena and building effective and collaborative partnerships across different sectors.
