Diane Abbott MP is looking to recruit an outstanding and experienced Communications Officer to join her team in Westminster.
The candidate should be at ease in a high pressure environment and have a proven track record in press work and be able to work flexible hours.
They should have excellent oral and written communication skills and have a strong interest in politics with a thorough understanding of how Westminster operates.
The candidate will have confidence in their ability to manage and launch social media campaigns and ideally have knowledge in backend website development and graphic design.
Responsibilities will involve:
• Routinely monitoring press output and draft press releases;
• Draft speeches, blog posts and articles;
• Draft written Parliamentary questions;
• Establish relationships and answer questions from a variety of sources including press, constituents and other internal and external stakeholders;
• Manage social media content and expansion;
• Maintain website and update when necessary.
Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.

Interview/Start Dates
Interviews will take place in the week beginning 20 February 2017.
Expected start date will be 15 March 2017 (earliest) – 1 April 2017 (latest).
