For more than 35 years, Shephard Media has been providing high-quality business intelligence to the aerospace, defence and security markets, through a combination of magazines, online news services, handbooks and video content.
The primary task of the Reference Editor is to assist with the compiling, writing, updating and proof-reading of entries in the Shephard Plus database.
The Reference Editor will report to the Editor-in-Chief but will also assist and work closely with external dataset editors to ensure the database is as up-to-date and comprehensive as possible.
The Reference Editor will be responsible for contacting companies to ensure existing entries are up-to-date and that new products have been added to the database following the schedule set out by the Editor-in-Chief.
They will ensure images are uploaded with entries and source any product photos that are missing.
In addition, they will write new entries for products based on promotional material gathered by journalists and other members of staff.
The Reference Editor will liaise with Shephard Media’s international network of contributors to ensure relevant products as added to the database as needed.
In addition to the primary task of maintaining Shephard Plus, the Reference Editor will carry out any other editorial tasks as directed by the Editor-in-Chief. This may involve writing news stories, carrying out online image searches, researching for editorial features and market reports, and taking on other news-gathering tasks as directed.
Throughout the year, the Reference Editor may also be tasked with attending trade shows and exhibitions to gather information for Shephard Plus.
In addition to the above, the Reference Editor may be tasked with additional roles at the discretion of the Editor-in-Chief.
