Work with Programme Directors (PDs) to support their and Wilton Park’s programme of work in developing a programme of projects and programmes in support of UK foreign policy objectives and to increase Wilton Park’s productivity and reach. The Programme Development Associate (PDA) is likely to work across the range of Wilton Park policy themes of: conflict prevention, resolution and state building; defence and security; global economy; human rights, good governance and faith; multilateral institutions; international development, sustainable development and the environment. The PDA will provide both intellectual input and logistical support in helping to coordinate event preparation, in some cases, continuing to work on their delivery.

Working primarily with PDs but also with the Head of Programme Development to contribute to and undertake activities in support of Wilton Park’s strategic plan and Programme Directors’ portfolios. The PDA will work to develop potential events on existing and new themes, including intellectual input on programme development and research into potential linkages, interests and key actors.

Use Wilton Parks systems and process, eg the Critical Path and Event Creation processes to develop and draft Concept Notes and Programmes. Working with PDs to assess the policy and financial market for event ideas; identify new funding opportunities, prepare funding applications and post event reporting to partners on financial and other targets.

Working with PDs to identify and develop new partnership opportunities and liaise with existing partners.

Mentoring of and collaborative working with Wilton Park’s team of Policy Interns.

Collaborative working with Wilton Park’s team of Visiting Programme Directors on a range of policy areas.

Using WP’s Knowledge Information Management System (KIM), identify potential speakers and participants, adding to KIM as required and liaising directly with speakers or participants to secure their participation or to identify alternatives.

Working with Wilton Park’s Comms Team to help draft promotional material (website, social media etc) and orchestrate comms campaign for events, as appropriate.

Note taking and Rapporteur work as required.
