Job Details

As the statutory body for post office consumers, Citizens Advice strives to ensure that postal services and the post office network provide value for money and meet the needs of consumers now and in the future. We are looking for a Senior Policy Researcher in the Wales Policy and Campaigns team, working closely with the Post and Telecoms team, to play a leading role in the delivery of our policy and advocacy programme. You will lead flagship research projects that advance our understanding of long-term, changing consumer needs from postal and post office services. Based in Wales you will identify emerging strategic issues, and work with national and local stakeholders to drive practical improvements and secure meaningful policy and real-world change.

To succeed in the role, it’s essential you have good understanding of the linguistic, cultural and devolved political context in Wales. You must be able to demonstrate excellent external stakeholder relations, with the ability to plan and communicate clearly. You’ll be a strategic thinker, and be confident working with service providers to negotiate practical solutions, often in challenging and robust contexts. You’ll be an outstanding communicator, who is able to think creatively and flexibly at both ‘big picture’ and detailed implementation levels. You will also contribute to an inventive, responsible and generous team culture, so strong collaborative skills are essential.

Understanding of the consumer policy landscape and the challenges that consumers face in accessing postal services is essential. Previous experience of working to secure changes in the post office or other similar sectors is highly desirable.

Citizens Advice values diversity, promotes equality and challenges discrimination. We encourage and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds. We particularly welcome applications from disabled and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic people, as they are currently under represented in our workforce.
