Primary focus will be to assist in the development of policy in the fields of energy, environment and climate change. Ian is the Parliament’s lead negotiator on carbon market reform (EU-ETS) and an early focus would be this issue. Ian is also one of the Parliament’s delegates to the UN Climate Change (COP) Conferences. The post holder will:

Participate in the legislative process by supporting the drafting of legislative reports and amendments and will regularly represent Ian in policy discussions and negotiations
Draft written material for a range of publications
Liaise with key actors, including parliamentarians, government officials (EU, UK and Scottish), NGOs, trade bodies and industry representatives
Organise and manage events connected to Ian’s work

The position involves regular travel to Strasbourg, for which additional support is provided, and travel further afield.
