We are looking for someone passionate about improving social care policy and practice who will successfully lead national programmes of work. The Principal Officer will be a senior member of the social care team at the National Children’s Bureau, working with colleagues to develop and deliver a range of projects relating to improving social care, frontline practice and outcomes for children and young people, many of which are specific to disabled children and young people. The team work with the Department for Education, The Association of Directors of Children’s Services, Ofsted, the voluntary sector and other partners to support practitioners to understand how policy and national programmes impact on their practice.

The role requires strong project management and budget monitoring skills, experience of managing staff and associates, excellent networking, communication, and facilitation skills as well as specialist knowledge of social care systems.

Candidates should be able to evidence successfully working with partner organisations and of supporting and developing practice.

A genuine interest in the issues that face children, young people and their families in relation to social care is essential.
