Job Details
New Schools Network (NSN) is a dynamic, growing charity that aims to improve the quality of education – particularly for the most deprived – by increasing the number of good free schools within the state sector.
This is an exciting opportunity to join NSN and support our work across two different teams.
Key responsibilities
Interns are an invaluable part of our team and work across all areas involving a range of tasks and responsibilities. Our interns have the opportunity to develop a number of skills, including research, organising events and database management.
You would divide your time between our fundraising team, which is responsible for raising charitable funds for NSN from a range of sources, including individual donors, trusts and foundations, and businesses, and the Advisory Team, which works with groups that are interested in setting up a free school, helping them navigate the Department for Education’s application process.
Candidates need to demonstrate the following skills and attributes:
— Impressive communication skills – our interns communicate with a great variety of individuals and groups in person, over the phone and in writing
— Attention to detail – our interns will need to complete both written and data-related tasks with precision, ensuring accuracy and coherence across all of their work
— Professionalism – our interns need to be able to represent NSN in a professional and appropriate manner in any situation
— Excellent organisational skills – our interns must be able to prioritise their workloads and manage their time efficiently
— Enthusiasm – our interns must be passionate about education, support the free schools programme and thrive in this fast moving policy environment
— Adaptability – our interns are asked to use their initiative and complete a wide variety of projects
— Discretion – our interns are expected to handle confidential information with due care and responsibility
— Familiarity with SalesForce, Highrise or other databases would be an advantage, as would an understanding of working in charities and/or the educational sector
This presents the opportunity to help the Department for Education deliver this flagship policy and to engage with those excited by the opportunity to improve education in England.
