Goldsmiths Students’ Union represents and supports over 9,000 students who make up the diverse and inspiring community of Goldsmiths’ College.

We provide provides students with advice, activities, social spaces, democratic representation, and opportunities to become leaders and organisers. Our staff team are ambitious, innovative and motivated by a desire to support students.

As our Democracy Coordinator, you will be responsible for ensuring we have a healthy, successful democracy. You will work with students and elected officers to increase the number of students participating and voting in our democracy. The frameworks you develop will ensure students perceive our decision-making as legitimate, and will lead to a greater number of candidates and voters.

You will be confident working with students or volunteers. Our elections are like a project, so you'll have some experience of managing projects of any scale. You will work methodically - identifying interventions to increase democratic involvement in the organisation.

You will write copy so students understand the impact of their vote, increase the relevance of our Student Assembly, help part-time officers deliver their objectives and work with students every day to make their Union more representative.

Because of you, more students will vote, our decision making becomes more legitimate and part-time officers have the planning in place to achieve their manifestos.

You will work in the Engagement team, making sure our democracy, campaigns, policy and support for student representatives is brilliant. There is the scope to grow your role, which could involve frameworks to influence local councillors, voter registration or delivering projects to increase organisational involvement from under-involved groups.

This role is a permanent, full time contract working in New Cross. You will be expected to visit other universities and attend national NUS events.
